Boats depart from Cabo San Lucas Marina and Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo. Your booking confirmation includes the exact slip and check-in time — most trips leave at first light, around 6:30 AM.

No. Cabo fishing charters are suitable for everyone from first-time anglers to experienced offshore fishermen. The captain and crew can handle the fishing setup and show inexperienced guests what to do.
Experienced anglers who want to be more involved should let us know when planning their charter.
It depends on your priorities. A half day can be a great option for families, first-time anglers, shorter trips, inshore fishing, and days when productive fishing is relatively close.
If fishing is the primary reason for your trip, we generally recommend a full day. More time gives the crew greater flexibility to travel farther, change locations, adjust techniques, and spend more time fishing.
There is no standard distance. Some days the best fishing is relatively close. Other days the boat may need to travel significantly farther to find productive water or a particular species.
Distance depends on current fishing activity, target species, trip length, weather, bait, water conditions, and the captain’s judgment.
Cabo offers productive fishing throughout the year. Striped marlin and dorado are two of Cabo’s staple sportfish, with opportunities to catch both throughout the year.
Depending on the season, anglers can also encounter blue and black marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, roosterfish, yellowtail, sierra mackerel, snapper, grouper, amberjack, snook, and other species.
There isn’t one single best month. Cabo is a year-round fishery, and the best time depends largely on what you want to catch. Different species become more or less abundant throughout the year.

No. No legitimate fishing charter can guarantee a catch. Fishing changes constantly based on water conditions, bait, weather, currents, fish movement, and many other factors.
Experienced crews use current information and local knowledge to give guests the best opportunity possible, but ultimately fishing is fishing.
Yes — legal table fish can be kept within applicable Mexican fishing regulations and limits. What you do with your legal catch is up to you.
A local tip. If you catch more fish than you realistically need, sharing some can go a long way in Cabo. Captains and crews are always appreciative of fish you’re not going to use, but fresh fish can also be a great gesture for hotel and villa staff, concierges, housekeepers, chefs, security, drivers and other hospitality workers looking after you. Keep what you want and share some of the rest.
Billfish are generally released, and responsible handling and release practices are strongly encouraged.
Fish-cleaning and processing services are available around the Los Cabos marinas. Depending on the processor, your catch can be cleaned, filleted, vacuum sealed, frozen, or prepared for travel. You can also take fresh fish to participating local restaurants offering cook-your-catch service.
The crew can help point you toward available options after your trip. Fish cleaning may be included with some charters, particularly some all-inclusive options, but guests should check their individual boat listing to confirm.

Even when the weather is beautiful, the ocean moves. If you’re prone to motion sickness, plan ahead rather than waiting until you’re already feeling sick onboard.
Guests commonly use over-the-counter motion sickness medication. Follow the directions for whatever medication you choose and consult a medical professional if you have questions. Getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and avoiding excessive alcohol the night before can also help.
Yes. Fishing can be a great family activity, and many Playita charters are suitable for children.

Cabo San Lucas Marina provides access to both the Pacific and Sea of Cortez sides of the peninsula and is particularly convenient for guests staying around Cabo San Lucas. Puerto Los Cabos, located in San José del Cabo, provides direct access to the Sea of Cortez and fishing areas including the Gordo Banks.
The right harbor can depend on where you’re staying, current fishing conditions, your target species, and the boat you want.
Weather and sea conditions are monitored by the captain and local authorities. The captain has final authority over the safe operation of the vessel and may modify the fishing plan when conditions require it.
Bad weather does not automatically mean the port will close or a charter will be canceled.
The local Port Captain has the authority to close the harbor when conditions are considered unsafe. If the port is officially closed and the charter cannot operate, the applicable Playita weather and cancellation policy will apply.
Gratuity is customary on Cabo fishing charters. A typical gratuity is approximately 15–20% of the charter price, depending on the level of service and your experience.
Gratuity is generally given directly to the crew at the end of the trip.
We recommend booking at least one month in advance when possible, especially if you want a particular boat or are traveling during a busy period.
October through New Year’s is particularly busy, and demand increases again during spring. Major fishing tournaments, holidays, and other high-demand dates can book significantly earlier. Last-minute charters may still be available, but your choice of boats will be more limited.
If you cancel your booking with more than 30 days’ notice before your scheduled arrival date, you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit. Deposits are otherwise non-refundable.
Trips canceled due to unsafe weather, a port closure, or mechanical issues will be fully refunded or rescheduled. Terms are confirmed at booking and some particulars vary by vessel.
Yes. Wild in Sac takes up to 15 guests out of Puerto Los Cabos, and for larger events we can run multiple boats out of the same marina on the same morning. Multi-day mothership expeditions aboard Northern Dream are also available.
